Mihad Ali is an author, writer, poet, owner of Radiant Romance and creative spirit.  She is an amazing person with a big heart and an incredible soul.

  1. How do you define Radiant Romance and what does your business offer?
Radiant Romance is a luxurious candle made especially for the romantic occasions between a couple. Many of the lines out there, at the moment, cater to mostly the home with their scents so I thought, after some research, that candles for romantic occasions was a great niche market.  The business solely focuses on scents for romantic occasions. So far there are four scents each with a specific romantic purpose in mind.

2. I am a personal fan of Radiant Romance and I think your business is both creative and inventive. How did you come up with the idea?

Thank you very much. I am quite a romantic myself and I began getting headaches with the candles I used. So I ended up researching the ingredients and found that the wax-paraffin- was a byproduct of petrol which is why they are also very inexpensive.   Like I said I saw there was a gap in the market and decided to combine being romantic and being creative with a candle line.

3. You are also an incredible writer. When did your love for writing begin?

That is sweet, I appreciate that. My writing began after the passing of my mother. After moving to Australia with my father and brother I became shy and began writing poems as a way to express what I was feeling. Living in NJ, I was part of choir and was more outgoing but after that my mind shifted somewhat and I became quite isolated and my outlet was now listening to music as opposed to singing  and of course writing.

4. If you weren't a writer or owner of Radiant Romance what would you be doing?

I can’t imagine not writing now as that is ingrained within but if I weren’t writing it’d be singing.  At the very least it would be something creative for sure.

5. Do you have a creative muse?

A lot of my poetry is based on human nature so that is where I find my inspiration. The beach is quite calming and a great place to reflect for me.

6. Can you describe how you stay creative and avoid burn out?

It is hard staying creative especially when you’re stressed out with other things. I watch TV and go to the movies when I can. They help me stay creative. I  especially enjoy re-watching episodes of TV shows, I discover something new every time!

7. If you can take a vacation anywhere in the world where would it be?

Wow, that is a hard question as I’d love to travel the world but give me anywhere with a beach and I’m a very happy girl.

8. Do you have any creative projects for the future?

I am currently working on a new book called “Radiant Love”. It is my first book of quotes which will be all about love. I’m also working on a natural beauty line. The word natural is quite overused nowadays and the regulation on it isn’t as tight as it could be. Anything can be natural these days if it contains over a certain percentage of “natural” products. I apologize I’m rambling…my line will be made using real ingredients people can actually understand. I’ll be testing my first product soon so that is very exciting.

9.  Any advice for other creative souls seeking to turn their passions into reality?

All the creative souls out there: If you believe in yourself you have to try it. Sadly, there are people (yes, family included) who will smile in your face and try and negatively talk you out of it. It is purely jealousy and great insecurity on their part.

First, you have to research your product and is it really new or is there something exactly like it out there.  Ask yourself questions like: What differentiates your product from what is available?  Who, specifically, am I trying to cater for? How old are they, where do they live, what is their income? Basic marketing information like that in the long run helps you out a lot.

Once you’re ready to test out your product find people who are willing to help. You don’t have to spend thousands on a focus group. I could go on about this forever but the important thing is that you love what you do and you have a solid reason to start this business. That point is crucial. It is not as simple as I love x and y so I’m going to spend all this money and start a business.  I’ve made that mistake myself so please be studious about it as it is not easy.
