I really love inspiring others to follow their dream and do something that they love. I mean why not? Our jobs are a big part of our lives and we spend hours (so many hours) at our jobs so why not do something that we truly love. It’s important right? I love inspiring other to follow their passion. And what really excites me is when the “dream job” is creative. Well as an artist I am partial to creative careers.
Lately I am thinking that I might want to get into dream career coaching. Still in the thinking and planning stages but I am really excited about this prospect. Starting a creative career can be scary but oh so exciting as well! Some tips on your journey:

Well I was on the internet and was reading Staci Swider's blog and she mentioned that while in Asheville, North Carolina she visited Daniel McClendon's studio. So of course I just had to see who this artist was and all I have to say is WOW. His work is so incredible. I can't even explain how amazing his art is. It really speaks to me and I am so glad I discovered him. So of course I had to share this on my blog.
The image above and images below are examples of Daniel's art and were obtained from his website ( each image links back to his website). His Website: http://danielmcclendon.com Some more mandalas............. Well as some of you awesome blog readers may know I am participating in the 100 day project and am creating 100 days of mandalas. Although, I have a feeling I will continue creating mandalas long after the project is finished. I am just having so much fun creating these mandalas. They really are very meditative and some say even healing. I think I am somewhere between day 21-30. I will have to count and see how many mandalas I have created since starting the project. Anyways, below are just some of the beautiful mandalas I have been creating.
Cherries.............they are just so good! Cherries always remind me of my home country of Bulgaria. My grandparents live in a village outside of Pernik and as a little girl I remember spending many days playing in the big back yard behind my grandparents' house. There was this big cherry tree in the back and from one of the tree's majestic branch was a swing my grandfather had built. I remember many summer days and nights swinging from that swing and gazing at the sunlight from above as it visually echoed on the leaves and cherry shapes. It was a very tall tree and I can vividly remember my grandfather using a stick of some sorts to shake the branches from above. As he shook the branches cherries would fall to the ground and my grandmother and I would pick them up from the ground and eat them.
Ahhhh sweet memories. I only lived in Bulgaria until I was 5 but I still cherish those memories. I still love cherries and it's no wonder that I associate cherries with summer days, the sun, the smell of flowers, family, and happiness! Picture below is a scanned image from a picture of Bulgaria that I took when visiting my family a few years ago. Not the best picture but I couldn't find any other pictures. Louise Gale Mandala Class and 100 days of Mandalas I have been really getting Into mandalas lately and I am simply having so much fun creating these beautiful circular and healing symbols. About a month ago I registered for Lousie Gale's mixed media mandala class. Before the class, I was always attracted to mandalas and even attempted to create them but I always felt like I just wasn't getting the process. So when I found out that Lousie Gale was offering a mandala class I quickly registered.
Well I have to be honest, the class was simply amazing. The class was a total of 4 weeks and each week we learned different takes on mandalas and unique ways of creating these beautiful symbols. Another really important aspect that I realized was that while creating these mandalas I felt like a deep sense of healing. There truly is something meditative about the process. I don't usually plan what my mandalas will look like but rather just let my intuition guide me. After the class, I decided to participate in the 100 days project. The project is basically about making something everyday for 100 days. The choice of what you are going to make is yours but the rule is you gotta make it every day for 100 days. So I decided to create mandalas. I am trying to post many of my mandalas on instagram with the hashtags #the100daysproject and #100daysofmandalas. If your on instagram you can take a look at some of what I am creating.. My instagram name is artonthemoon. Let me know if you are participating in the 100 day project and I will take a look at your creations. Some of my Mandalas I am really into bohemian decor and all the colors and patterns that go into the decorating process. I am simply in love with the artsy look that comes with bohemian decor and the free spirit approach to decorating. Really anything goes with boho decor. You can be as funky and colorful as you want. Here are some images of bohemian decor from the internet. Links to original site are provided below and you can click on image and it will link to original post.
The past few weeks have been very busy. The first weekend of April I took a mini vacation to the East Coast to see friends and family. It is the first trip I have taken since moving to Kansas and it felt amazing to get away and be with my sister, my friends and my cute niece, a Pomeranian and my nephew, a poodle. Being so far from the airport was a huge challenge. I left at about 6 a.m on Thursday morning in order to take a scheduled shuttle from the Army base to Kansas City, KS where the airport is located. It too about 2 1/2 hours to get there. Once at the airport I had to wait until 3:30 to board the plane. After a transfer in North Carolina, I finally got to JFK at 10 p.m and my sister picked me up and drove me to her house in NJ.The next morning we drove 6 hours to visit a very good friend in Virginia Beach, VA. I was so glad to be back in the Hampton Roads area even if it was only for a day and a half. I was stationed in Norfolk for 5 years while in the Navy and then stayed there for a few years after my contract was up. I feel really contacted to the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area and it was just so much fun to visit and eat at some of my favorite restaurants. We tried to do as many things in a day that we could. We went to the beach, ate an amazing Greek restaurant, shopped in a cute historical district in Norfolk and just enjoyed the amazing weather. I have to say I felt rejuvenated after this trip ( which was only like 4 days and half of that was travel!). And when I got back I started some art projects........ In addition to my travel, I am starting lots of art projects. One of these projects is the 100 portrait project. I really want to get better at drawing and painting portraits so I started the project in order to motivate myself to draw more faces. I will be sharing these on instagram #100portraitproject and if you'd like to share your portraits you can use hashtag and I will take a look at your creations.
I have recently taken a conscious effort to living a more positive life and raising my vibrations. It's funny, I have always been spiritual and very into spiritual topics and yet I was swallowed in negative lower emotions. At a certain point in my life I became the victim and was always asking " why me?" I was in a constant cycle of feeling sad and unsatisfied with life. Now I am not saying that this is how I always was. I am actually a pretty positive person, however I started getting stuck in these negative emotions and it became harder to break away. It was like a positive feedback mechanism where my negative emotions were attracting events that would in turn fuel my negative emotions. Now I suffer from anxiety so a lot of my emotions were about fear and what if's. There was also lots of emotions on lack of confidence and the feeling that I wasn't getting anywhere with my life.
Recently I have decided o change this attitude. I realize that our vibration and the emotions that we are in constantly attract those similar attitudes and emotions in our lives. I started taking the time to show gratitude and take a moment to thank GOD/Higher Power/Universe for all the blessings in my life. I started praying more, I started meditating, and I started visualizing myself enveloped in white healing light. These simple changes have made me a happier person and you know what? I am actually attracting more positive events into my life. Yes, I feel lighter more free. Now I am not saying that just because I am thinking more positively that I will never encounter events and situations that are not so great. In fact I believe in soul contracts. If I picked certain experience to encounter in this life in order to grow than I will probably encounter them because it is what I planned before birth and positive thinking will probably not change these contracts. However, I can choose how to react and how to live my life. I choose happiness, love, and compassion. I choose to be a nice person. I choose to live a life with higher vibration emotions and attitudes. I recently started a new Facebook Page with the purpose of inspiring others. The link to the page is: https://www.facebook.com/lovelightandhappiness I am simply in love with surface design patterns. I never realized this until I started to become more aware of what type of art I was attracted to. I also realized that I got really excited in stores that had lots of patterns. I am flirting with the idea of designing fabric ( I don't sew but I do love textile and fabric patterns) designs. I would love it if that was another part of my art business. The question is how does one go about this? How do you get companies to look at your designs for consideration?
I have read many articles on surface pattern design and how to license your art but I have to say it is still a little confusing. First, where do I find the companies that are actually licensing art? I know that trade shows are wonderful for this but honestly I do not have 5,000 dollars to spare for a booth. I do know that I would really love to design art for surface design and I am willing to work hard figuring out how to get my foot in the door. Being a surface designer sounds so romantic to me. I can see it now................ I am sitting in my studio table overlooking the bay window that leads to an exotic landscape of tropical flowers and foliage. The sun's rays are shining through the window and form golden patterns on my work table. Musical symphonies are sung by brightly colorful birds outside. I am sitting at my modern white studio table and getting my supplies ready. I take a sip of my delicious cinnamon dolce latte and my heart is filled with inspiration as I begin to dream of the newest pattern collection. My lovely furry companion jumps on my lap surprising me and awakening me from my colorful dream. I decide to take a break and take her out for a walk. After all, I have all day to design. As I walk outside my door, I hear majestic chimes in the distance and I realize that it is coming from a mediation center a few blocks from me......... Okay so I got a little carried away with my daydream, but can you blame me. It just seems wonderful to me. I will have to do some more research about getting my art on fabric and textiles. If anyone has any tips please do share!!! NOTE: The above image is from Pinterest. It is a design by Kate Spain. If you click on image it will take you to Pinterest. A week ago my family and I went to Kansas City for the weekend. This is the first time that we have visited Kansas City since moving to Kansas about a year and some months ago. We arrived Saturday evening and stayed at the Embassy suites near the plaza. I was really excited to visit because I heard so many good thing about KC, such as their art culture and cute boutique stores. Unfortunately I did not get to explore the city as much as I wanted to because we had to leave midday on Sunday. Also I walked to the plaza center (shopping district) Sunday morning only to find that most stores opened at noon. So I did not get to do as much shopping as I wanted to but I still had fun. Below are some images of the plaza area in KC. I must note at the time I was taking the pictures, I was also carrying coffee for my husband and I so the pics are not the greatest, but I'll share anyway.
